Robotics Software Engineer — Industrial Deployment | SF (On-site)

Client is a 6-person robotics startup automating visual QA and surface finishing for aerospace, energy, and defense manufacturers. $7M funded, early-stage, high-ownership environment.

You'll write code that runs on physical robots in production — not simulation. Most work ships to real customer systems within 1–2 months.

What you'll do

  • Build software across the full robotics stack — motion planning, computer vision, real-time control
  • Deploy and debug robots directly on customer shop floors (~2 months/year travel)
  • Build tools and interfaces that enable reliable robot operation in manufacturing environments
  • Contribute to architectural decisions on the robotics stack, including Drake

Stack: Python, C++, ROS, Drake, Motion Planning, Computer Vision, Git

Strong fit if you have:

  • 2–6 years robotics software engineering experience
  • Hands-on deployment experience — physical robots, not just simulation
  • Generalist instincts across the stack (perception planning integration)
  • Startup or early-stage background; comfortable with high ownership and fast iteration

Details:

  • Full-time, 5 days on-site in Dogpatch SF
  • $130K–$250K base depends on experience + Competitive equity
